ABSTRACT
Objective: To find that Transcerebellar diameter/abdominal circumference (TCD/AC) is a reliable parameter for assessing normal Foetal growth from twenty weeks of gestation till term.
Study Design: A Prospective observational study.
Place and Duration of Study: Rawal Institute of Health Sciences, Islamabad, from September 2014 to February 2015.
Methodology: In a six month prospective observational study conducted at Rawal Institute of Health Sciences, Islamabad the TCD/AC was calculated for 300 patients, presenting in obstetrics out-patient department, with uncomplicated singleton pregnancy. The Arithmetic mean and standard deviation (SD) was calculated for the studied population.
Results: In the studied Pakistani population TCD/AC ratio determined for normal Foetal growth with gestational age between 20-40 weeks was constant with a mean of 14.25 and SD ± 1.23.
Conclusion: This study shows the clinical importance of TCD/AC ratio measurements for assessment of Foetal growth. The TCD/AC ratio is a reliable parameter for assessing normal Foetal growth between 20-40 weeks and in our studied Pakistani population remained constant with a mean of 14.25 and SD ± 1.23.It also indicated that there is a significant co-relation between TCD/AC ratio and normal Foetal growth.
Key Words: Foetal growth, Transcerebellar diameter/Abdominal circumference ratio TCD/AC, gestational age.
